The beginning
Ottorino, the son of Luigi, a brilliant aviator, returned from the war at the age of 25 and began a successful diversification from the butter factory in Via Carlo Zima in Brescia, which his father had bought for him, thus taking his first steps into the world of agribusiness. These were the years of rebirth and, thanks to his high level of know-how and a wealth of knowledge, Ottorino was soon appreciated in the sector and made choices that proved to be successful.
The beginning
This is the beginning of our story where quality, tradition and passion are indissolubly combined. The leitmotif of our entrepreneurial path is therefore characterized by a great family cohesion, a strong attitude to business, a deep devotion to work and a deep-rooted spirit of sacrifice.
The bombing of the Brescia office
On March 2, 1945, a bombing raid on Brescia hit the headquarters in Via Carlo Zima, destroying it.
The war is not yet over, but there is no time to give up and we are committed for the reconstruction.
Not just butter
Ottorino's goal is to expand and increase the company's production. Following his strategy of diversification, in the 1950s he began marketing cheeses. In those years, with the agreement signed in Stresa, the Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano denominations were born.
A growing business
In the 1960s, Ambrosi's main activity was the Measuring and marketing of Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano.
A growing business
Production of Grana Padano begins. Ottorino follows the markets with interest and attention, noting the changes in sales methods. In Italy, large-scale organized distribution is developing and Ambrosi is ready to face it.
A growing business
The company expands and a new plant is built in Castenedolo, in the province of Brescia.
Expansion continues
Following Ottorino's death, the leadership of the company passed to his sons.
It was during those years that the brothers Luigi and Giuseppe Ambrosi realized the importance of expanding into foreign markets and, through a well thought-out internationalization strategy, they launched a series of important acquisitions, thus penetrating the markets of France, Germany, Japan and the USA.
Ambrosi arrives in France
In 2000 Ambrosi acquires the majority of an important French distributor and so Ambrosi France is founded in Nice, which allows the company to grow in the French market.
Internationalization speeds up
In 2006 Ambrosi Food USA Corp. was founded with headquarters in New York to gain a foothold in the North American market. In 2007 an alliance was formed between Ambrosi and Emmi - a Swiss company operating in 64 countries worldwide - which acquired a share of the company.
New plant acquisitions
In order to support the Ambrosi Group's strong growth, the Castiglione Bassi dairy (2011) was also acquired to increase the production of Grana Padano,
the Abele Bertozzi Spa (2014), a historic Parma-based company founded in 1901 and specialized in the processing of Parmigiano Reggiano, and the La Traversetolese dairy (2014), a historic Parmigiano Reggiano dairy.
The expansion in England
In 2019, through the Ambrosi UK subsidiary, Anthony Rowcliffe & Son Ltd, a company specializing in the import and distribution of cheese and food products in the UK market, was acquired.
The Ambrosi's dream
